Magesi FC's former coach Allan Freese has revealed the reasons behind his departure from the club. The veteran tactician, who is currently job-hunting, stated that financial constraints were the main reason for his exit.

What happened?

Magesi FC suffered relegation in June, after a poor 2025/26 season in the topflight, which spilled over into the three-team play-offs. The team finished with a league standing of 15th in Premier Soccer League, 24 pts, 5W-9D-16L from 30 games, and a recent form of WLLLD.

Why it matters for Magesi FC

The lack of funds in the club's coffers led to Freese not being retained, as the chairman told him that he couldn't pay him. Freese explained to KickOff that he accepted the decision and parted ways amicably with the club.

What comes next?

Freese is now searching for a new team to coach, either in the elite division or the second tier. He mentioned that there are many wishes and he could have done a lot of things if he had arrived earlier. Magesi FC, on the other hand, will have to navigate the challenges of the Motsepe Foundation Championship, with a goal difference of -19, having scored 24 goals and conceded 43 this season. As of now, the team is 45 points behind leaders Orlando Pirates, and will have to work hard to regain their spot in the top tier.
